Andrew has an extensive background in education and was a teacher and headmaster for twenty five years before establishing FSLM. He has worked in various school settings including state schools, independent schools, choir schools, inclusive schools, and primary and high schools. Andrew holds a BA, BEd (Hons.) and HED. He started FSLM because he firmly believes that a major contributing factor to a successful South African society is excellent leadership – particularly in the arena of education and school management. Andrew asserts that successful schools have successful leaders and wants to make a significant difference to the lives of school leaders. Andrew was appointed Executive Head at The Drakensberg Boys Choir School in June 2014.
Following 10 years of working for someone else, Jonathan launched his own business in 1997 and has never looked back. After building it into a solid and established entity, with well motivated and independent staff, he decided to get involved in community projects and make a contribution. Jonathan believes that FSLM is the perfect platform to help the youth of South Africa become successful independent adults. He argues that it is only through the passing of knowledge from one to another that we can truly make a difference. His role at FSLM is to make everyone aware of who they are and what it is that they do.
As a business development specialist for a leading disability and transformation consulting firm in Johannesburg, Candice inspires, challenges and leads those around her. Her goal is a better world through more sustainable and sensible business practices. She is learning to temper her idealism with wisdom and patience, but only so that she can wield it more efficiently. FSLM has given Candice an environment to learn from those with more experience, and a cause very close to her heart. She brings her experience in skills development, socio-economic development, transformation and diversity to FSLM; helping to integrate its work with a more socially accountable business environment.
